Become an Education Advocate

Commit to be an Education Advocate
in your legislative district!

MNEA’s new Education Advocate program seeks members who will be a contact person to their respective State House or Senate member on public education issues. MNEA’s Government Relations department will pair members with their legislators and provide information, talking points and resources to conduct important legislative outreach throughout the year.

In a time where the threats we face in the state legislature include elimination of tenure, extreme cuts to school funding and banning payroll deduction for dues and PAC, we MUST recruit more members to have in person conversations with elected officials.

Yes, I am willing to complete at least two of the following activities:

  • Stay connected through email alerts.
  • Volunteer during a campaign.
  • Encourage MNEA members to attend Capitol Action Lobby Days in Jefferson City.
  • Participate in candidate screenings.
  • Coordinate a meeting with my legislator.

Share your story

Even though we are not at school supporting Missouri students, members continue to help every day during this crisis. MNEA wants to share your stories as we struggle through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are hearing about members who are continuing to care for their students by

  • volunteering at school district Grab & Go meal distribution centers and food drives
  • providing child care for essential medical staff
  • shopping for the elderly so they don’t have to leave the safety of their homes

Your stories help show that educators don’t stop caring. Please send your stories with pictures to MNEA at, so we can share them. You can post to social media, making sure you tag @MissouriNEA and use the hashtags  #MNEAheroes and  #MNEAprotects.
