Please tell your U.S. Senator to get NCLB right

Right now, Congress is rewriting the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (also known as No Child Left Behind). The focus of ESEA has shifted from student learning to testing, labeling, and punishing schools — with no significant closure of opportunity gaps.

Friday, the U.S. House delayed a final vote on their Elementary and Secondary Education Act reauthorization bill, and it’s unclear when it will be rescheduled.

The Senate, however, is moving full steam ahead, and NEA needs your help. We know you are busy, but this is a critical time, and your Senator needs to hear from you. Please contact your Senator by email or phone (or both).

Tell your Senator to get a new ESEA right for our students.

It’s not too late to make a difference on this. The real action is in the Senate, and it’s so important. From resources to testing, it affects every angle of student learning.

Take a moment to call your Senator now. Call 1-866-331-7233 and enter your ZIP code to get connected.

Tell your Senator to support NEA's proposed solution. We believe the new ESEA must focus on opportunity for all, ensure more time for students to learn, and empower educators to lead. Our students deserve more. High stakes standardized tests have eroded their learning time, while doing nothing to shed light on the achievement gaps between schools.
